I have always had an interest in exploring
specific temporal and geographic spaces within contemporary society. I am aware
of how changes in society both construct and reflect people’s connections
to others, objects and spaces.
My project looks at the rituals involved in the
preparation and consumption of food. It aims to communicate the invisible
details of everyday life; practices, gestures, acts and objects that we
constantly live through and see but don’t necessarily notice. This
encourages people to slow down and revaluate traditional attitudes, offering
them a chance for new encounters, new experiences and new creations.
It seeks to push the viewer towards an ownership
of his or her everyday life, presenting the activity of cooking and eating (as
well as other ordinary practices) as intense life experiences and not mere
routines.
