    “Anubis’ mummification” “Turbo Folk Apologia”

My work has always been driven by obsessions, dreams and phantasms, actually, by need to discover them. Thus personal is proved as political, my oeuvre is influenced by social-political constellations.

Crossing a vide variety of media (painting, photography, filmmaking), my opus is expression of rebellion against existing, social systems, regimes and ideologies.

Through a kind of theatrical form of new cyber surrealism, I play with social ethic and aesthetic norms. Mixing fashion-glamorous style with bizarre and grotesque, my work, very often, contains a sense of humor and parody.

The topic of this project is Turbo Folk. It is musical path occurred in Serbia in the beginning of 1990s as a consequence of the war in the territory of former Yugoslavia. It links ethnic Balkan music with techno rhythms.

The project is consisted of a video in a form of a TV-show, a poster for the TV-show and “scandalous porn” you tube video.

My project is a glocal story, local as well as global. It talks about transition of a country from socialism into capitalism. Imitating the West, Serbian Turbo Folk is a transparent and denuded version of the Western jet-set, it is its distorted mirror, mutated product.
