Expanding upon philosopher Jean-Luc
Nancy’s theory “that our whole being is involved in listening just
as it is involved in interpreting what it hears”, my interests focus on
the psychological process of decoding information. I am interested in the
trigger that signifies the relationship between language and thought and how
words, sounds and images slip into an audience’s media-saturated,
cultural unconscious. I want to build upon and stretch the coherency of
information to create shifts in emphasis and meaning that will impact the
mental process of acquiring, analyzing and evaluating information. My main
impetus is to create multi layered works that are critical evaluations of
language, thought and subject matter.
